In celebration of the month of September as the International Coastal Cleanup 2020, PCAPI-7 received award for the rehabilitation of the Mahiga River under the Department’s Adopt-an-Estero/Waterbody Program during the Awarding Ceremony of the International Coastal Cleanup 2020 launching spearheaded by the Cebu City Government in partnership with DENR-7 and EMB-7 held on September 19, 2020 at IL Corso, South Coastal Road, Cebu City with event hashtags: #LimpyoNgaSugboTinguhaKo #internationationalcoastalcleanup #DENR7ICC2020 #SafeOceansStartAtHome
After the launching, coastal clean-up activity was simultaneously conducted along eight waterways and coastal areas in the city which includes the mouths of the Lahug, Guadalupe, Bulacao, and Kinalumsan Rivers and the Tejero, Mahiga Creeks, Sawang Calero and Ermita. Participants also cleaned the coastal areas of Barangay Mambaling and the South Road Properties (SRP).
PCAPI-7 also donated to DENR-EMB7 snacks worth of P5,000 for the said activity.
