The environment department in Central Visayas gave awards to partners during the culmination of the Environment Month.
The culminating activity last June 29 in the DENR office in Banilad, Mandaue City also saw the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for additional partners in the “Adopt-An-Estero” program of DENR.
Five of the LGU awardees are from Cebu proving including barangay Canduman in Mandue City, the city of Carcar, the municipalities of Argao and Cordova, and the Cebu City Parks and Playground Commission.
The municipalities of Ayungon and Bindoy in the province of Negros Oriental and the municipality of Candijay in Bohol were also awarded.
Pollution Control Association of the Philippines (PCAPI), Foundation for Economic Freedom, and Siliman University Angelo King Center for Research and Environmental Management were among the awarded non-government organizations.
Ayungon Forest Management Organization Inc. Ayungon, Negros Oriental, Anislagan Farmers Association in Carcar City, and San Miguel Association Resources Team (Smart) in Danao, Bohol were the awarded POs.
Mabuhay Fil Cement, Alta Cebu Resort, Cebu Equal Trading, and JLR Construction Aggregates Inc. are the new government partners in cleaning rivers.
The total partners in the program us now 17 and all are helping DENR in de-clogging the 23-kilometer Butuanon River.
“The Adopt-an-Estero program helps us in cleaning our creeks and rivers and restore their health,” DENR 7 Regional Executive Director Isabelo R. Montejo said.
This year’s environment month celebration carried the theme “Green Economy does it include you?”
